The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three armed robbers terrorising Yola, the state capital.
In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the arrests were carried out in collaboration with community members under the Command’s Community Policing Initiative.
“The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with members of the community who keyed into the Command’s Community Policing Initiative, has arrested three suspected Shilla Boys for involvement in armed robbery, housebreaking, and theft,” he said.
The suspects—Auwal Inusa (19), Huzaifa Ahmed (19), and Lukman Abdullahi (19)—are residents of Nassarawo Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the gang was arrested on 5 January 2026, around 3:00 a.m., after allegedly arming themselves with cutlasses, daggers, and knives to break into a house in Nassarawo, Jimeta, where they reportedly stole valuables.
“Members of the community intercepted and arrested three out of four suspects while one escaped,” the statement added.
Recovered items include two mobile phones, a power bank, a cutlass, and two knives used in the robbery.
Adamawa Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended residents for their vigilance and urged them to continue collaborating with the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
The statement noted that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
The Shilla gang, notorious in the state since 2015 during former Governor Jibrilla Bindow’s administration, initially targeted opposition party members but later escalated to full-scale armed robbery.
