The Federal Government has allocated N7.01 billion for President Bola Tinubu’s local and international travels in the 2026 appropriation bill presented to the National Assembly.
The provision shows that N6.14 billion of the amount is set aside for the president’s foreign trips.
A further N873.88 million is proposed for local travel, raising Tinubu’s total travel budget to N7.01 billion.
The bill also allocates N1.73 billion for the travel and transport expenses of Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
This includes N417.48 million for local trips and N1.31 billion for international engagements.
In 2024, President Tinubu cut the number of officials accompanying him on both domestic and foreign travels by 60 per cent as part of cost-saving measures.
Records from the 2024 fiscal year indicate that Tinubu and Shettima budgeted a combined N8 billion for local and international travels.
President Tinubu presented the N58.18 trillion 2026 federal budget to the National Assembly on December 19, 2025.
The presentation followed the approval of the budget proposal by the Federal Executive Council.
