The ‘Zazu’ crooner was released on Monday, January 19, 2026, after spending about one week in prison custody

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions granted by a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, following his arrest over assault and theft allegations.

The ‘Zazu’ crooner was released on Monday, January 19, 2026, after spending about one week in prison custody.

Portable was arrested over allegations of assaulting his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, and her siblings, as well as allegedly stealing a car.

A video of the singer surfaced online shortly after his release, with Portable insisting that the accusations against him were false.

“They lied against me,” the singer said in the viral clip.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a heated altercation between Portable and Ashabi on New Year’s Eve, which later went viral on social media.

Ashabi and her siblings subsequently accused the singer of assault and theft, leading to his arrest and the filing of a nine-count charge against him.

Portable was later arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, and was remanded in prison custody pending a fresh bail hearing.

The presiding judge had adjourned the case to Monday, January 19, 2026.

On the adjourned date, the court granted the singer bail, after which he fulfilled the conditions and was released from custody.
