The father of late Afrobeat singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to the public for help over the disappearance of his son’s SUV, days after the artiste’s death.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the grieving father raised concerns about the whereabouts of the vehicle, claiming it was returned to the dealership shortly after Destiny Boy’s passing but has not been seen since.

He said the SUV was purchased from Lycon Autos and that he accompanied his son to finalise the transaction.

According to him, the dealership provided a driver to convey the vehicle to their residence on the day it was bought.

He explained that Destiny Boy later retained the same driver for personal use.

The situation, he said, became problematic when the driver claimed the singer owed him money and allegedly returned the SUV to the dealership without informing the family.

Appealing for help, he said, “Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep.”

He added, “We went together to buy it, and Lycon Autos assigned a driver to bring the car home that day.”

According to him, “Later, Destiny started using the driver personally. The driver said Destiny was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from.”

He lamented that he does not even have the driver’s contact details, saying, “If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up.”

Koikimedia reports that Destiny Boy died on Sunday at the age of 22.

His mother disclosed on Monday that the singer had been ill before his death.

She revealed that he had been battling a long-term mysterious illness known as “Ogu oru,” which frequently caused seizures.

Speaking on the illness, she said Destiny’s condition worsened shortly after the naming ceremony of his child.

She explained that the sickness led to repeated seizures and had at some point almost destabilised him mentally.

According to her, the family explored both hospital treatment and traditional remedies in a bid to save his life.

She added that they consistently ensured he was properly cared for and prevented from harming himself during seizures.

The singer’s mother also dismissed rumours that Destiny Boy was involved in money rituals.

She condemned those spreading such claims, accusing them of peddling misinformation to gain attention from her son’s death.

She stressed that the family made several efforts to ensure he fully recovered from the strange illness before his passing.
