Ibadan, Nigeria — Renowned Yoruba rights activist and community leader, Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to individuals, groups, traditional rulers, media organisations, and supporters across the world for their unwavering support, prayers, and solidarity throughout his prolonged ordeal and eventual return home.
In a statement released following his welcome back to Nigeria, Chief Igboho described his journey as one marked by trials, resilience, faith, and collective struggle. He said the overwhelming support he received locally and internationally strengthened him during what he called one of the most challenging periods of his life.
Reflecting on his journey, Igboho recalled how his activism for the protection of Yoruba communities and the right to self-determination brought him into the national spotlight, eventually forcing him into exile after security challenges escalated. His subsequent arrest and detention in the Benin Republic became a defining chapter that drew global attention and sparked widespread advocacy.
