The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concern over the murder of two of its members, Mrs. Esther Chimezie Ijeoma, the party’s woman leader of Amosu Umulolo Ward, and Mr. Ambrose Ndukwe, both indigenes of Okigwe Local Government Area.

The duo was shot dead on Friday, 30th January 2026, in a tragic incident that the party described as a painful reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the state.

The statement, issued on Thursday by ADC’s state Publicity Secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, and shared with journalists in Owerri, called for reflection on the loss of innocent lives.

He said, “The death of citizens, regardless of political affiliation, strikes at the core of our shared humanity and demands serious attention from all stakeholders.”

ADC emphasised that protecting lives and property is the foremost responsibility of government. Chief Amadi added that continued violent attacks raise doubts about the effectiveness and prioritisation of public safety measures.

The party urged authorities to demonstrate proactive leadership and implement clear strategies to safeguard citizens.

It called for a comprehensive, transparent investigation into the killings, with findings made public promptly.

ADC also demanded the speedy identification and prosecution of those responsible, stressing that justice must be served to uphold public confidence and deter future violence.
