Newsmen gathered that Esther’s boyfriend, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, allegedly fled shortly after her death.

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Esther Akwaji, has reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances while eating at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Newsmen gathered that Esther’s boyfriend, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, allegedly fled shortly after her death.

Sources told the Media that Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had traveled to the FCT to visit family members.

On January 21, she reportedly left her family home, saying she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei, but never returned.

Hours later, family members received a phone call from a man claiming to be Esther’s boyfriend, using her mobile phone.

He reportedly told them that Esther had visited him and that he had prepared food for them.

According to the source, Esther suddenly began vomiting while they were eating. The man claimed he rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

He allegedly fled the hospital shortly afterward and has remained unreachable since.

Confirming the incident, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, told Newsmen that a full investigation has been launched.

“The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Adeh said.
