Suspected political thugs have set ablaze the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ward office in Ubima, the hometown of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday in Ikwerre Local Government Area, destroying materials stored for local party activities.

A video circulating online showed residents criticising security personnel for failing to stop the perpetrators.

The incident came just hours before Amaechi was scheduled to formally register with the ADC at the ward level.

As of filing this report, Amaechi had just arrived in Port Harcourt ahead of his registration with the party.
