The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a graphic circulating online that falsely claims March 26 is the deadline for government officials seeking elective positions to resign.
In a statement on Friday via its official X handle, the Commission described the graphic as misleading and unverified, stressing that it did not originate from INEC.
The Commission urged the public, media, and political stakeholders to disregard the message entirely.
INEC reminded Nigerians that all official announcements are made only through its verified channels, including its website (inecnigeria.org), verified social media accounts, and official press releases.
Citizens were advised to confirm election-related information through these official sources and avoid sharing unverified content that could cause confusion.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to providing accurate, timely, and transparent information to the public.
