The death toll from Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacks on a kindergarten and other sites in Kalogi, South Kordofan state, has risen to 47 people, mostly children, with around 50 others injured.

The RSF attacked the kindergarten on Thursday and then targeted civilians who came to help, bombing the city’s hospital and a government building, according to military sources in the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

The Sudan Doctors Network reported that at least nine people were killed, including four children and two women, in an attack on Kalogi town.

The attack targeted a kindergarten and civilian facilities. Reports indicate the death toll may rise due to severe injuries. The attack has been condemned as a grave violation of international humanitarian law. Both the RSF and SAF have been accused of committing atrocities in the ongoing civil war.

Amnesty International has called for investigations into war crimes, and the European Union has imposed sanctions on Abdelrahim Dagalo, the deputy of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and brother of the group’s leader, Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo.
