A Russian attack has damaged port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Danube port city of Izmail, a key grain-export hub, while Russian officials said they intercepted four Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow.
Izmail, in the Odesa region, was struck in the early hours of Tuesday, with local authorities reporting a fire and damage to buildings. Ukraine said its air defences destroyed most incoming drones over open areas, reducing the risk to civilians.
Elsewhere, a separate Russian drone strike in Kharkiv left at least one person possibly trapped under rubble, officials said.
In Russia, Moscow said air defences downed four drones targeting the capital, following recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory and retaliatory attacks on Ukraine.
The exchanges come despite a short US-brokered ceasefire earlier this month, with both sides continuing cross-border attacks and accusing each other of violations.
