He said Cuba poses no threat to other nations and has no “aggressive intentions”, but insisted it has the “absolute legitimate right” to defend itself if US military threats escalate.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has warned that any US military action against Cuba would lead to a “bloodbath”, while stressing that the country does not seek confrontation.

In a social media post on Monday, he said Cuba poses no threat to other nations and has no “aggressive intentions”, but insisted it has the “absolute legitimate right” to defend itself if US military threats escalate.

He added that threats from Washington “already constitute an international crime” and warned that any attack would have “incalculable consequences” for regional stability.

His remarks follow a report by Axios claiming, based on classified information, that Cuba has stockpiled more than 300 drones and could target US forces or Florida—an allegation met with scepticism.

The comments come amid heightened tensions and US warnings of possible military pressure and an energy blockade against Cuba, which is already facing severe economic strain and widespread blackouts.
