In a coordinated messaging campaign aimed at both domestic and international audiences, Araghchi also warned that the US-Israel conflict involving Iran is already having economic consequences for ordinary Americans.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran is prepared to resume direct military confrontation with the United States if ongoing negotiations fail to deliver acceptable outcomes.

In a coordinated messaging campaign aimed at both domestic and international audiences, Araghchi also warned that the US-Israel conflict involving Iran is already having economic consequences for ordinary Americans.

He claimed that US energy prices and inflation have risen sharply since the conflict began on February 28, following disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz through which roughly one-fifth of global oil and gas shipments typically pass.

“Americans are told that they must absorb rocketing costs of war of choice on Iran,” Araghchi wrote on X, sharing an image showing rising US Treasury yields.

He added that beyond higher fuel prices and stock market volatility, the real economic strain would come if US debt and mortgage rates continue to rise, noting that auto loan delinquencies are already at a 30-year high.

Araghchi suggested that inflationary pressure in the United States would persist as long as the threat of war continues, warning that it could soon translate into higher borrowing costs and potentially push the economy toward recession.
