The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting of Oworo traditional rulers and title holders held on Sunday in Lokoja.

Traditional rulers in Oworo land, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, have agreed to strengthen cooperation to address insecurity and promote unity for the development of their communities.
The decision was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting of Oworo traditional rulers and title holders held on Sunday in Lokoja.
The gathering was convened in line with traditional practices to examine key issues affecting the area, with security, unity, and socio-economic development taking centre stage.
Speaking at the meeting, the Olu of Oworo and Chairman of the Oworoland Traditional Council, Mallam Mohammed Adoga Baiyerohi, said regular consultations were necessary to assess and respond to the community’s challenges.
He noted that the area’s geographical location has made it vulnerable to kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal groups who take advantage of its proximity to the River Niger as a hideout and escape route.
“Our land provides a very easy route for them to sneak in and out. This is a challenge we are contending with,” he said.
The traditional ruler also commended Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo for his proactive efforts in tackling insecurity, noting that he had personally visited forested and troubled areas, both day and night, to curb criminal activities.
