Lagos State Police have arrested and detained Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, after a viral video showed him driving recklessly while live-streaming, resulting in a serious road accident.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said Peller’s actions are being investigated as a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and endanger the lives of others.

The case is currently with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and Peller will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction.

The police statement reads: “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained, for further investigation, Habeeb Hamzat aka ‘PELLER’, following the viral video that surfaced online on Sunday, 14 December 2025.

In the video, he was seen driving recklessly, causing a serious road crash while live-streaming, thereby endangering his life and the lives of other road users. His actions constitute a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and endanger innocent people.

“The case is currently under investigation by the SCID. The outcome will be made public, and the suspect will be charged in accordance with the law.”

The Lagos Police also warned social media influencers and content creators against promoting reckless behaviour online, emphasising that lawlessness will not be tolerated.

The command urged all road users to follow traffic regulations and prioritise safety, adding, “The Command remains committed to ensuring public peace and safety at all times.”
