Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be allowed for two weeks, in coordination with Iran’s armed forces and taking into account technical limitations.

Iran has confirmed a two-week ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be allowed for two weeks, in coordination with Iran’s armed forces and taking into account technical limitations.

Trump had made the reopening of the vital waterway a key condition for the ceasefire. He had also warned that the United States would target Iran’s energy sector and infrastructure, including bridges, if Tehran failed to comply by the 0000 GMT deadline.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments, has remained largely closed since the United States and Israel launched large-scale attacks on Iran on February 28.

A senior U.S. official also confirmed that Israel would abide by what Trump described as a “two-sided ceasefire.”
