Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a photojournalist in the Danhonu II community of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The journalist, Umar Iyale, who is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, was taken from his home on Monday night around 9 p.m.

Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed the abduction, saying the police have launched an operation to apprehend the kidnappers and secure Iyale’s release.

He urged residents of Danhonu and Millennium City to provide security agencies with credible information that could help in the rescue operation.

The incident comes nearly two years after residents of Kaduna State had experienced relative peace and security, thanks to the state government’s collaborative and strategic efforts with security agencies to improve safety in many communities.
