The monarch made the remark in a congratulatory message, delivered through his spokesperson Ibrahim Alli, to mark Tinubu’s 74th birthday

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has hinted that some Nigerians might push for a constitutional amendment to allow President Bola Tinubu to contest a third term.
The monarch made the remark in a congratulatory message, delivered through his spokesperson Ibrahim Alli, to mark Tinubu’s 74th birthday.
He described the president as a decisive leader who has “laid a new foundation of hope” for the country.
“Many Nigerians may beg for a constitutional review for Tinubu to spend more than two terms in office. He is a leader who knows what he is doing,” Oba Akanbi said.
The Oluwo also praised Tinubu’s leadership style, noting that his administration has taken firm action against practices that previously hindered economic growth.
He highlighted what he described as measurable improvements under the current government, including a stronger naira, a rise in foreign reserves from about $1bn to between $49.5bn and $50.45bn as of late February/March 2026, and other positive economic indicators.
Oba Akanbi attributed these gains to key policy reforms, such as exchange rate unification, increased oil production, and a boost in foreign investment inflows.
