Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has dissolved his executive council by sacking all commissioners in the state.
According to Bukar Tijani, the Secretary to the State Government, the governor has directed the commissioners to hand over their ministries’ affairs to permanent secretaries by Friday, April 3.
The move is aimed at allowing any member of the council who wishes to contest in the upcoming general elections to do so without conflict.
“Governor Zulum expressed his sincere gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and valuable service to the people of Borno State,” the statement added.
Several other state governors have recently given political appointees seeking elective offices deadlines to resign, in line with the amended Electoral Act.
