The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the deaths of two members of a Nollywood production crew who were found dead inside a parked vehicle at a film location in the Lekki area of the state.
Newsmen gathered that the victims, lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his associate, Ayodeji Walter Odediran, were discovered unresponsive on Saturday, February 7, within the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was being used as a filming location.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said the two men had arrived early on set to install lighting equipment.
After completing their work, they reportedly went to rest inside a Nissan vehicle parked on the premises.
Concern arose when repeated phone calls to them went unanswered. They were later found lifeless inside the vehicle.
According to the source, the crew members had finished setting up the lighting before filming began.
They later entered a tinted Nissan vehicle to rest while waiting for further production activities for a movie reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma.
At about 11 a.m., a production staff member allegedly brought them breakfast inside the vehicle. The air conditioning was said to be on, and both men appeared relaxed at the time.
Filming continued throughout the day, but calls to their phones were not answered.
It was only after production wrapped up around 8 p.m. that their bodies were discovered in the car.
The source added that the men were foaming at the mouth, and one had bloodstains around his nose and lips.
Another police source said the incident was reported at the Maroko Police Station, and CCTV footage from the premises was being reviewed.
The bodies have since been deposited in a morgue pending forensic examination.
Imeh, who was the Chief Executive Officer of a lighting company, was known for his work on major productions, including King of Boys, as well as music videos for artistes such as Davido.
Confirming the incident on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
She added that autopsy and toxicology tests were being conducted to determine the cause of death.
The incident occurred just days after gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele, popularly known as Segun Praise, and three members of his crew were found dead inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos State.
