An 18-month-old girl has been brutally killed by unknown attackers at a farm settlement in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, with her father demanding justice over the incident.

The child’s father, Mr. Bright Kalu, a farmer from Abia State, said he was away on another farm when the tragedy occurred.

He explained that his wife and children were left at their camp while he went out for work.

According to him, upon returning, he noticed his wife was visibly distressed and she informed him that an unidentified person had attacked their camp.

She was able to rescue three of their children during the incident, but their youngest child went missing.

Mr. Kalu said he, along with his elder brother, Ifeanyi, immediately began searching for the missing child.

He later recounted that the child’s lifeless body was discovered behind their residence, adding that the head had been severed.

The grieving father has appealed to the Ondo State Government, security agencies, and human rights organisations to ensure those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

The case was initially reported at the Olofin Police Station in Idanre before being transferred to the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure for further investigation.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, saying a suspect has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.

He added that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
