Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has denied claims in a viral publication that he resigned from office because he “could not stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.”

In a statement on Wednesday, Badaru described the report as false, malicious, and intended to misrepresent his reasons for leaving office.

He stressed that he never made such remarks, nor did any authorised representative speak on his behalf.

He said the publication sought to damage his reputation, create tension between him and President Bola Tinubu, and stir unnecessary controversy.

Badaru noted that the reasons for his resignation were formally communicated to the President and had already been made public through official channels.

Reaffirming his commitment to Nigeria’s peace and stability, he said he continues to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the public to disregard the viral publication, describing it as the work of mischief makers.
