Ikechukwu’s arrest followed a viral video on social media showing him recording himself while abusing naira notes in a hotel room

The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 24-year-old palm kernel dealer Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, also known as “Easy-money,” for allegedly mutilating naira notes during his birthday celebration.
Ikechukwu’s arrest followed a viral video on social media showing him recording himself while abusing naira notes in a hotel room.
The EFCC said the act contravenes Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
“A preliminary investigation was conducted after receiving the intelligence, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspect,” the commission said.
He was apprehended on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his residence near Timber Market, Enugu-Ezike, Enugu State. N81,700, suspected to be part of the mutilated money, was recovered during the arrest.
The EFCC added that Ikechukwu will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
