The adjournment followed an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, who said he needed additional time to review the case file

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday adjourned the terrorism trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, to March 10, 2026.

The adjournment followed an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, who said he needed additional time to review the case file.

He explained that the matter was recently transferred from the Department of State Services to the Department of Public Prosecutions, requiring him to familiarise himself with the facts.

Defence counsel, Mr Adedayo Adedeji, did not oppose the adjournment but asked the court to strike out the case if the prosecution fails to commence trial on the next date, citing lack of diligent prosecution.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the matter to March 10 and directed the prosecution to open its case on that day.
