Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge of alleged certificate forgery, obtaining money by false pretence, and money laundering before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The charges were filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which accused him of presenting forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates during his ministerial screening in 2023.
During Monday’s proceedings, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted Nnaji bail in the sum of N20 million with one surety, a Federal Civil Service officer not below Grade Level 15 and resident in Abuja.
The court also ordered him to surrender his official and international passports pending the determination of the case.
The former minister was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on June 30, 2026, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Nnaji, who resigned from office in October 2025, has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as politically motivated, while the court prepares to commence trial.
