At least 14 worshippers were tragically killed when a truck lost control while travelling along the Zaria-Kano highway in Imawa town, Kura Local Government Area.
The worshippers were returning after Juma’at prayers. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Kano Sector Commander, verified the occurrence and said that multiple other people were hurt.
“At 1350 hours, there was a deadly road traffic crash recorded. Preliminary reports state that after Friday prayers were over, a truck with the licence plate MKA 537 XN lost control and struck some pedestrians.
In addition to leaving other people injured, this horrific collision claimed the lives of fourteen people, he stated.
Abdullahi stated that the FRSC sent personnel and other security agencies to the spot for rescue efforts and medical help as soon as they received the distress call.
In addition to expressing his sympathies to the families of the slain, he underlined the Corps’ dedication to road safety and urged drivers to completely obey traffic laws in order to avert similar tragedies.

Eight more people were hurt and are undergoing treatment at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
These individuals were bystanders who were looking for cover from the early rain. According to local accounts, the structure collapsed during a period of intense rains, and the victims were hurriedly taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
