Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has passed away after suddenly collapsing in his office.

Newsmen earlier reported that he slumped at work and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa.
Family sources confirmed that he was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., triggering an immediate emergency response.
Eyewitnesses said the deputy governor appeared to be in critical condition as he was quickly taken into the hospital’s emergency unit.

A source close to him attributed the collapse to the deputy governor’s intense workload.
Although officials have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the medical emergency, multiple sources suggested it may have been related to a possible cardiac issue.

Security personnel have taken control of the hospital premises and restricted access as top government officials arrive to show support.
Efforts to reach the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
