The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly spraying a 17-year-old boy with acid in the Shagari area of Yola South Local Government Area.

According to a statement on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the victim, Walid Kassim Mohammed, was on his way to the mosque.

Nguroje said the boy ran to the nearby police station in distress to report the attack, claiming that the suspect, identified as Idris Hamza, sprayed him with a substance believed to be acidic.

“The victim was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, while the suspect was taken into protective custody,” Nguroje said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and carry out a thorough investigation.

“The investigation into this matter is ongoing, and further details will be provided as it progresses,” the statement concluded.
