Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Mohbad, has claimed that his son called off plans to marry his partner, Omowunmi, after allegedly discovering her unfaithfulness.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Aloba revealed that the singer had initially planned a proper wedding following their introduction ceremony, but the alleged betrayal led him to cancel the marriage.

“A few months after she had delivered the baby, my son told me he would not marry Omowunmi because he caught her with another man,” Aloba said.

He further claimed that Mohbad alleged Omowunmi had put pills in his food to make him sleep, after which she reportedly went to another man’s room a visit witnessed by that man’s girlfriend.

Mohbad’s death, linked to an injection given by an auxiliary nurse, triggered national outrage.

He was buried the day after his death, but his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy as part of a police investigation.

By May 2024, pathologists stated the cause of death could not be determined due to advanced decomposition.

Aloba has repeatedly insisted that a DNA test be conducted to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam, before his father can be reburied.

In September, a magistrate’s court in Ikorodu, Lagos, granted the request, ordering the test to be carried out at a government-approved facility.
