A drone targeted the Iraqi National Intelligence Service headquarters in the Mansour district around 10 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT),” General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s security media unit, said in a brief statement on Saturday.

A police officer has been killed in a drone strike carried out by “outlaw groups” on the headquarters of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service in central Baghdad.
“A drone targeted the Iraqi National Intelligence Service headquarters in the Mansour district around 10 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT),” General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s security media unit, said in a brief statement on Saturday.
A security official, speaking anonymously, told AFP that the drone struck a “communications building,” which houses an Iraqi security agency that collaborates with U.S. advisers on security matters.
In a related incident, another drone filming the attack crashed into a private sports club frequented by Iraq’s elite and foreign diplomats, according to the same source.
The drone strike on the National Intelligence Service headquarters came just hours after a separate attack on a U.S. military complex.
Overnight from Friday to Saturday, at least three drones targeted a U.S.
diplomatic and logistics hub at Baghdad International Airport, which houses U.S. military personnel, according to two security officials.
One official confirmed that a fire broke out near the base following the third attack.
Iraq has found itself involuntarily drawn into the regional conflict following the U.S.-Israel assault on neighboring Iran on February 28.
Since then, its territory has been frequently struck by attacks.
U.S. and Israeli strikes have targeted Iran-backed groups, which have retaliated with near-daily attacks on U.S. interests, primarily in Iraq but also in the broader region.
