A Delta State official has confirmed the arrest of two social‑media personalities—Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof—after they got into an altercation while boarding at Asaba International Airport.
Mr Ossai Success, senior special assistant on media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, verified the arrest. United Nigeria Airlines also confirmed that VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof were removed from the plane and handed over to airport security.
In a statement titled “United Nigeria Airlines Statement On Passenger Altercation At Asaba International Airport,” the airline said the confrontation happened during the boarding of Flight UN0523 on 17 November 2025.
The airline said: “An altercation occurred between two passengers—Martins Vincent Otse, known as ‘VeryDarkman,’ and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as ‘Mr. Jollof’—while boarding Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport.” It added that, following international safety regulations, the crew intervened immediately.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident happened during the boarding process, as the commercial jet was preparing for departure, and the confrontation escalated quickly, prompting airline officials and crew members to step in.
After the disturbance, both individuals were removed from the flight manifest pending further review by the airline and authorities.
A video that spread rapidly showed VeryDarkman and Mr. Jollof fighting physically on board. Ossai noted that the incident occurred on United Nigeria Airlines’ Asaba‑to‑Lagos flight and expressed his disapproval on his Facebook page:
“I saw VeryDarkMan getting beaten by Mr. Jollof this morning at Asaba International Airport. They have been unboarded and arrested. I’m really disappointed that they fought inside an aircraft instead of settling it elsewhere. VDM lacks sense and talks recklessly. I’m truly disappointed”.
