A traditional ruler, Oba Bayagan, has been kidnapped by terrorists in Kwara State’s Ifelodun Local Government Area, sparking renewed fears about the state’s worsening security situation.

The abduction occurred on Saturday, but details are still unclear. This incident has heightened tensions in the area, following recent attacks on communities, including the kidnapping of worshippers from a church in Eruku and residents in Isapa community .

Residents described the attack as sudden, leaving the community in a state of fear and confusion. Kwara State has been grappling with a disturbing surge in violent crimes, with rural communities increasingly becoming targets of armed groups.

Just two weeks ago, terrorists stormed a church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, abducting worshippers during a service. Fortunately, the victims were later rescued following security intervention” .

Days later, another armed gang attacked Isapa community in Ekiti, kidnapping at least 11 residents, including women and youth.

The recent abduction of Oba Bayagan has increased tension in Ifelodun and neighboring local government areas. Previously, two residents of Manba Village in Kwara State’s Patigi Local Government Area were abducted when terrorists stormed the community through Rogun axis late Friday night.

The attackers, who arrived around 11 pm, shot sporadically, causing residents to flee for safety. A community source said the gunmen operated freely, taking two people away, and fear has gripped surrounding villages.”
