OGUN, Nigeria – A man has been arrested for committing murder in Nigeria’s southwestern state of Ogun, police said Saturday.
Muftau Adefalu, 37, allegedly killed his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in the Sango-Ota area of the state, Ogun State Police Command’s spokeswoman Omolola Odutola said, adding that the suspect had since been arrested and detained.
Odutola said that the incident occurred at about 8:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024.
The suspect was believed to have had a misunderstanding with the woman, which resulted in a scuffle.
During the scuffle, the victim immediately slumped and was later confirmed dead at the hospital she was taken to, according to a local newspaper.
”The man had a misunderstanding with his ex-wife, which resulted in a fight. She slumped during the scuffle and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention,” police spokeswoman Odutola said. “She was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. The corpse has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The suspect has been arrested and detained.”
