Lagos – American electric vehicle manufacturer, Saglev has commenced the production of electric cars at its assembly plant in Ikorodu, Lagos, western Nigeria.
Saglev’s CEO, Sam Faleye, had in last year revealed plans to commence operations at its advanced EV assembly plant in Lagos.
Faleye said that a fully charged electric vehicle can cover up to 300 kilometres on a single charge, equivalent to driving from Oshodi to Ajah ten times.
He added that charging these vehicles is infrequent, requiring only once or twice per week, with a full charge taking approximately four hours using a level two charger.
However, the commencement of the electric vehicle production was announced via a video shared on Thursday by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media.
“It is great to see #saglev has commenced the production of electric cars at its state-of-the-art assembly plant in Ikorodu, Lagos,” Olusegun captioned the video.
