NASARAWA, Nigeria – One Isa Usman, a quack doctor, has been arrested for allegedly causing the death of Zaki Yaka Ajohol after administering a Procaine Injection in Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria, police said.
The arrest was made on Wednesday at Iyayi Village in Kadarko district of Keana Local Government Area, according to DSP Ramhan Nansel, spokesman for the Nasarawa State Police Command.
Usman, who only has a primary school education, hails from Pindi village in Gombe State and claimed to have received training at Asibitin Yusuf in Agyaragu, Obi LGA, the police said in a statement.
The suspect confessed to administering the Procaine Injection for three days to treat typhoid. On the fourth day, after administering the same injection, the victim became unconscious and was later confirmed dead at a primary health care facility in Akeleku.
Drugs and other medical implements were recovered from Usman as evidence.
“The Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigation and prosecution,” Nansel said.
