NASARAWA, Nigeria – Police in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, alongside a two-year-old child, with dangerous weapons.
Police operatives attached to the Keffi Division – made the arrest possible.
Keffi town is just 33 kilometres and about a 40-minute drive from the country’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ramhan Nansel, spokesman for the Nasarawa State Police Command – said in a statement on Saturday that 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil were recovered from the suspect.
Nansel said the operation was carried out on Friday when the operatives intercepted the suspect, a resident of Doro village, Katsina State.
According to the police spokesman, a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect received the supply of ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He said the suspected criminal “concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route to Katsina State before nemesis caught up with her.”
The police spokesman noted that the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, for further investigation.
