The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command, has confirmed that two people died in a road traffic crash along the Kaduna Western Bypass.
The Sector Commander, Andre Longkam, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kaduna.
He said the accident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. at the Federal Eye Centre Junction and involved a DAF truck, a Honda car, and a motorcycle.
Longkam explained that preliminary investigations showed the Honda vehicle collided with the motorcycle, leading to the death of the rider and a passenger.
“Two persons lost their lives in the crash,” he said.
He added that after the incident, some angry youths set the affected vehicles on fire, causing further damage.
According to him, FRSC personnel, working with the police, quickly arrived at the scene to control traffic and restore order.
He said measures were taken to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent further disruptions.
Longkam expressed concern over the incident and urged motorists to drive carefully, particularly on roads under construction.
He also advised drivers to obey traffic rules and avoid actions that could worsen emergency situations.
The FRSC boss said investigations into the cause of the crash were ongoing, adding that the corps remains committed to improving road safety nationwide.
