Gumi made the claim in a Facebook post on Tuesday while reacting to the recent attack on Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has suggested that the recurring killings in parts of Nigeria may be tied to covert foreign intelligence activities operating through local collaborators.
Gumi made the claim in a Facebook post on Tuesday while reacting to the recent attack on Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly claimed the lives of more than 20 persons and left several others injured.
The Islamic cleric condemned the continued killing of innocent Nigerians, insisting that the violence should not be given any religious interpretation.
According to him, the pattern of the attacks points to a hidden external force allegedly working with some locals to destabilise the country.
He said there are Nigerians willing to serve as foot soldiers for such operations.
To support his claim, Gumi referenced a number of recent security incidents across the country.
He cited the coordinated bomb blasts in Maiduguri on March 16, 2026, which reportedly killed at least 23 people and injured over 100 others.
He also mentioned the March 29 attack in Jos, which took place during Palm Sunday, where gunmen reportedly killed and injured several residents.
Gumi further noted that personnel of the Nigerian Army have also come under similar attacks, showing that the violence affects both civilians and members of the armed forces.
He called on the Federal Government to reassess its current security approach.
The cleric urged the authorities to adopt new strategies and reduce what he described as foreign influence in Nigeria’s security framework.
He also advised the government to seek assistance from “friendly superpowers,” particularly in the areas of satellite intelligence and military equipment, while strengthening local security capacity.
Gumi concluded by praying for the speedy recovery of those injured and expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the attacks.
