The lawmakers are Lukman Adeleye of Odogbolu State Constituency, Bello Damilare of Sagamu I, Lawal Samsideen of Ogun Waterside, Oluseun Samuel of Ijebu North East, Owode Waliu of Ijebu East, and Dickson Kolawole of Remo North.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered another setback as its remaining six members in the Ogun State House of Assembly have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the party’s unresolved internal crisis.
Their defection effectively leaves the PDP without a single lawmaker in the Ogun State House of Assembly, as they were the last legislators elected on the party’s platform in the state legislature.
The lawmakers were said to have based their decision on the prolonged leadership tussle that has continued to divide the opposition party across the country.
The latest development comes amid a wave of defections that has further weakened the PDP in recent months.
Within the last 10 months, the party has reportedly lost 11 governors to the APC and the Accord Party, while also seeing many of its members in the Senate and House of Representatives leave for rival political parties.
At the centre of the crisis is a fierce battle for the party’s national leadership, which has split the PDP into rival camps.
One of the factions, believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), held a national convention in Abuja on Sunday.
However, another faction aligned with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, did not take part in the convention.
Makinde’s camp had earlier organised its own national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
But that convention was later nullified by two separate judgments of the Federal High Court.
The Court of Appeal also affirmed the decisions of the lower courts.
Despite the rulings, the faction has approached the Supreme Court in a bid to have the voided convention revalidated.
