Aondoakaa said the decision followed “careful reflection and wide consultations” with his family, political associates, and supporters, and took effect on March 28.

Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, Aondoakaa said the decision followed “careful reflection and wide consultations” with his family, political associates, and supporters, and took effect on March 28.
He expressed gratitude for the chance to serve the party at different levels but noted that “prevailing circumstances have made it necessary for me to take this step in the overall interest of my people and democratic values.”
Aondoakaa thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and the support Benue State has received under his administration, assuring him of continued loyalty to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also acknowledged the role of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume, in shaping APC’s leadership in Benue State, describing his guidance as invaluable.
The former minister further appreciated party members across Ushongo Local Government Area and Benue State for their cooperation and support over the years, calling the relationships and experiences gained “invaluable.”
Aondoakaa urged his supporters and associates to “remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast” and promised that a new direction to “salvage and reposition Benue State in the best interest of our people” would be announced in due course.
He served as Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation from 2007 to 2010.
