The All Progressives Congress, APC, may face a major setback ahead of the 2027 general elections following the defection of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, a party chieftain has warned.

Alwan Hassan made the remark on Tuesday during a live interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, noting that Kwankwaso remains a powerful political figure in Kano State.

Hassan said losing Kwankwaso could seriously undermine the APC’s hold in Kano, stressing that the state is too important for the party to lose.

“The APC is in trouble for losing Kwankwaso to ADC. Kano is big for the APC. If we lose Kano to Kwankwaso in 2027, we are in trouble,” Hassan said.

He recalled that the APC had already lost Kano in the 2023 elections and warned that the party could face the same fate if it fails to counter Kwankwaso’s influence.

“Kwankwaso is a master of the game in Kano. He had been in the market since 2023, and we have lost him to the ADC,” Hassan added.
