In a statement on Friday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the arson was part of a disturbing pattern of intimidation against ADC members.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the burning of its secretariat in Ubima, Rivers State, calling the attack a criminal assault on democracy and a dangerous escalation of political violence.
In a statement on Friday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the arson was part of a disturbing pattern of intimidation against ADC members.
He noted that only days ago, some party supporters were shot at during a political gathering, while other ADC offices have also faced attacks and vandalism in recent months.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) strongly condemns the criminal attack on our party secretariat in Ubima, which was burnt to the ground last night by thugs loyal to the ruling party. This fire is not only an attack on the African Democratic Congress as a political party, it is a direct assault on democracy, political tolerance, and the constitutional rights of Nigerians to freely associate and participate in the democratic process,” the statement said.
The party warned that its commitment to peaceful political engagement should not be mistaken for weakness.
It pledged to take all lawful steps to protect its members and facilities across the country.
ADC called on security agencies to investigate the attack, identify and apprehend the perpetrators, and hold accountable anyone sponsoring or enabling political violence.
“Anything short of this will embolden those who believe violence can silence political participation and weaken Nigeria’s democracy,” the statement added.
The party reaffirmed its resolve, insisting that no intimidation, arson, or destruction will deter its mission to build a democratic Nigeria based on justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must collectively reject violence and defend the sanctity of our democracy,” it said.
