Justice Joyce Abdulmalik directed that Malami and his son be taken to Kuje Prison, while his wife is to be remanded at Suleja Prison in Niger State.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, his wife, Asabe, and son, Abubakar Abdulazeez Malami, back to prison following their re-arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on corruption charges.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik directed that Malami and his son be taken to Kuje Prison, while his wife is to be remanded at Suleja Prison in Niger State.
The order came after the defendants entered their pleas in the N8.7 billion corruption case.
Malami’s lawyer, Joseph Daudu, SAN, referenced a January 7 bail granted by Justice Emeka Nwite, urging the court to adopt the same conditions. EFCC counsel, Jibrin Okutepa, SAN, confirmed the bail had been perfected.
Justice Abdulmalik, however, ruled that the previous proceedings were legally terminated, rejected oral bail requests, and directed that fresh applications be filed.
The court has scheduled March 6 for arguments on the bail applications and trial.
Earlier, Justice Nwite had granted bail of ₦500 million each to Malami, his wife, and son, with strict conditions including submission of property documents and travel papers.
