Thirteen suspects have been taken into custody following a violent attack during the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Idanre, Ondo State, which claimed two lives on Wednesday, February 18.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Saturday in Akure.
Jimoh said the operation was part of a carefully planned, intelligence-driven effort directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, aimed at bringing all perpetrators to justice.
“The attack led to the loss of two lives, injuries to three people, and property destruction,” Jimoh stated.
He added that following the violence, the CP ordered a focused intelligence-led manhunt, which culminated in the arrest of the suspects through coordinated police operations at key locations in Idanre.
The arrested men are: Adewusi, 38; Dele, 28; Akinkurole, 38; Victor, 30; Abbas, 30; Michael, 35; Jolojolo, 36; Ifedayo, 38; Olamilekan, 25; Emmanuel, 25; Sunday, 49; Michael, 55; and Monday, 25.
“All suspects are in police custody and have provided statements that are aiding ongoing investigations,” Jimoh said.
The police are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of the attack, identify other possible accomplices, and determine the role each suspect played.
Jimoh also highlighted Lawal’s assurance that all involved in the attack would face justice. He further praised Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for his guidance and support, which has strengthened the command’s capacity to respond swiftly to security threats across Ondo State.
“The CP warns anyone plotting acts that could disrupt public order that the command will act decisively,” Jimoh added.
Residents of Idanre and the wider Ondo community are urged to remain calm, abide by the law, and continue providing timely information that can assist police investigations and ensure collective safety.
