Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim stated in a Sunday release that the incident occurred on February 1, 2026, at around 12:30 p.m. in Bundila Village, Gulani Local Government Area.

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 50-year-old Alhaji Hassan Umaru for allegedly killing a fellow villager, 45-year-old Sukari Abdul, over suspicions of an affair involving his wife.

Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim stated in a Sunday release that the incident occurred on February 1, 2026, at around 12:30 p.m. in Bundila Village, Gulani Local Government Area.

According to the statement, Umaru allegedly suspected Abdul of being involved with his wife, and the confrontation escalated at the village market. “During the altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked the victim with a cutlass,” the spokesperson said.

The victim was rushed to Bularaba Primary Health Care Facility but was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

Reacting to the incident, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.

“Members of the public are cautioned against using violence to settle marital or social disputes and are urged to report grievances to the appropriate authorities,” the statement concluded.
