The incident reportedly occurred near Mandela Junction, beside the National Examinations Council office, close to the Niger State House of Assembly and the state secretariat.

A petrol-laden tanker overturned and caught fire on the Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass in Minna, Niger State, on Saturday, spilling fuel across the road.

The incident reportedly occurred near Mandela Junction, beside the National Examinations Council office, close to the Niger State House of Assembly and the state secretariat.

It was gathered that the tanker, carrying premium motor spirit (PMS), had just departed the NNPC Mega Station when it caught fire, prompting the driver to attempt to move it away from the filling station.

Both federal and state firefighters later left the scene, citing insufficient water and chemicals as the blaze intensified.

The driver sustained partial injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire remains unknown as of the time of filing this report.
