Amandi, a director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in Enugu State, was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025, though details of his alleged involvement have only recently emerged.

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Stanley Amandi has been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot involving Nigerian military officers.

Amandi, a director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in Enugu State, was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025, though details of his alleged involvement have only recently emerged.

Reports suggest that Amandi was recruited by the suspected plotters to serve as a propagandist in what investigators describe as a wider plan to unlawfully remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from office.

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that investigations into the alleged coup plot have been concluded.

The military said that officers implicated in the plot would face military judicial panels, as their actions are considered a breach of Armed Forces ethics and professional standards.

Civilians linked to the case, including Amandi, are expected to face trial in civil courts, while the military personnel involved will undergo court-martial proceedings as the legal process continues.
