A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has said that only former Vice President Atiku Abubakar truly knows what it takes to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Momodu criticised other opposition figures for their inability to unite and agree on a common strategy ahead of the race.
Writing on Facebook, he insisted the opposition is not prepared for the contest.
“I often wonder how some opposition presidential aspirants can think of knocking out President Bola Tinubu in 2027, barely a year away, when they have not even come together to agree on a common strategy,” he wrote.
“Let me emphasise that contesting for the highest office in any country is no child’s play. The only opposition leader who is meticulously and practically pursuing his dreams — and this will be his seventh attempt — and who seems to understand what it takes to be competitive is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON).
“Winning against a ruthless competitor will take more than social media appeal. It requires a stupendous war chest, calculated risks, extensive nationwide structures, religious balancing, and broad ethnic support.
“As for me and my house, many opposition figures are simply not ready. Either they have given up on their dreams or they do not mind Tinubu continuing with this charade of a government.”
