The Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, has announced the passing of The Venerable Edwin Achi, Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero. Ven. Achi was kidnapped alongside his wife and daughter on October 28, 2025, and sadly, he died in captivity.

His wife and daughter are still being held by the kidnappers, who are demanding a N600 million ransom.

The diocese has cancelled the ‘Stand Up for Jesus 2025’ event in honor of the late priest. The announcement described Ven. Achi’s death as a “painful loss” to the diocese, clergy, and church family, praising his “faithful ministry, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to God”.

Unfortunately, Ven. Achi has since been confirmed dead, with his wife and daughter still in captivity. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N600 million for their release.The statement reads.
