Nigeria – Lagos: Police officers from the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja have arrived in Lagos to re-arrest popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as Seaking, as he appears in court for a separate trial on Tuesday.
The TikToker is facing re-arrest within the court premises over videos allegedly targeting the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Seaking is appearing at a magistrate court in Lagos for a separate trial earlier instituted against him by the police.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the move, stating, “A Nigerian police contingent from the Police FID unit in Abuja has again laid siege on the premises at the Magistrate Court in Lagos to rearrest Olumide Ogunsanwo over his videos against Pastor E.A Adeboye.
“The Police Team is advised to refrain from rearresting Olumide Ogunsanwo. And to vacate the premises of the courthouse.”
Seaking was first arrested in December 2024 for allegedly insulting President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in viral social media videos.
The police charged him with cyberstalking, treason, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
He was previously re-arrested during a court appearance in February 2025 over alleged cyberbullying against Pastor Adeboye and was flown to Abuja.
According to the police, his re-arrest was based on a petition filed by Paul James Adama on behalf of a Christian association supporting the cleric.
